Selank is a synthetic heptapeptide with the amino acid sequence Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg-Pro-Gly-Pro derived from the immunomodulatory peptide tuftsin, with added stabilisation residues. Originally developed by the Institute of Molecular Genetics of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Selank has been the subject of significant preclinical and early clinical research into anxiolytic and nootropic mechanisms. BPeptide supplies Selank at ≥99% purity for reproducible laboratory research.

🧘

Anxiolytic Pathway Research

Selank is studied for its modulation of the GABAergic system, including positive allosteric effects on GABA-A receptors, a key target in anxiety related research.

🎯

Cellular Renewal Pathways

Researched for downstream growth hormone effects on cellular regeneration markers and systemic tissue repair processes.

🧠

BDNF Expression

Research models indicate Selank elevates brain derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) expression, a key marker in neuroplasticity and cognitive function studies.

🛡️

Immune Modulation

As an analogue of tuftsin, Selank retains immunomodulatory research interest, with observed effects on cytokine IL-6 expression in cell based assays.

Standard Reconstitution Protocol

  1. Allow the vial to equilibrate to room temperature (approx. 15-20 minutes) before opening.
  2. Wipe the rubber stopper with 70% isopropyl alcohol and allow to dry.
  3. Draw 2.0ml of bacteriostatic water into a sterile syringe.
  4. Insert the needle at an angle and release the liquid slowly down the inner wall so do not inject directly onto the powder.
  5. Gently swirl in a circular motion until fully dissolved. Do not shake or vortex.
  6. Resulting concentration: 15mg/ml (30mg ÷ 2ml).
  7. Label with date of reconstitution and store upright at 4°C.
Reconstitution solvent Bacteriostatic water (preferred) or sterile saline
Recommended volume 2.0ml per 30mg vial
Resulting concentration 15mg/ml
Post reconstitution storage 4°C, protected from light
Stability after reconstitution 30 days at 4°C
Freeze thaw cycles Avoid; aliquot before freezing
Do not Vortex, shake or freeze reconstituted peptide

What is Selank used for in research?

+-
Selank is a synthetic heptapeptide analogue of the endogenous peptide tuftsin. In preclinical and early clinical research, it is studied for its anxiolytic (anti anxiety), nootropic and neurological mood stabilising properties, particularly its modulation of GABA-A receptors, serotonin, dopamine pathways and BDNF expression.

How do you reconstitute Selank 30mg?

+-
Add 2.0ml of bacteriostatic water slowly down the inner wall of the vial. Gently swirl until dissolved so do not shake. This yields a 15mg/ml solution. Store at 4°C and use within 30 days. Do not freeze reconstituted peptide. Full protocol is in the Reconstitution tab.

What is the standard research cycle for Selank?

+-
Research protocols commonly use Selank in cycles of 10-30 days ON, followed by a mandatory 1-2 month OFF period to observe neurological stabilisation and baseline recovery. For long term, the cycle may be repeated every 3-6 months.

How does Selank differ from Semax?

+-
Both are synthetic neuropeptides, but their research profiles differ. Selank is primarily studied for anxiolytic and mood stabilising effects, while Semax (an ACTH analogue) focuses more on cognitive enhancement, focus and neuroprotection. Some research protocols use them in combination to explore complementary pathways.

What purity is BPeptide’s Selank 30mg?

+-
≥99% purity, verified by independent third party HPLC and mass spectrometry. A certificate of analysis (CoA) is included with every order and is also available to request before purchase.

How should Selank be stored before reconstitution?

+-
Store lyophilised Selank at 2-8°C (refrigerator) for short term storage. For long term storage beyond 6 months, -20°C is recommended. Keep away from light and moisture. Shelf life is up to 24 months from manufacture date under these conditions.

Do you ship Selank internationally?

+-
Yes. We ship worldwide with cold chain packaging to maintain peptide integrity during transit. Estimated delivery is 5-10 business days internationally.

Selank: Mechanism of Action and Research Background

Selank (Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg-Pro-Gly-Pro) is a synthetic heptapeptide developed at the Institute of Molecular Genetics of the Russian Academy of Sciences. It is a structural analogue of tuftsin, a naturally occurring immunomodulatory tetrapeptide, extended with a Pro-Gly-Pro tripeptide stabilising sequence that significantly increases its half life and CNS bioavailability compared to the parent molecule.

The primary research interest in Selank lies in its anxiolytic properties without sedation, a distinction that differentiates it mechanistically from classical benzodiazepines. Preclinical data point to positive allosteric modulation of GABA-A receptors and inhibition of enkephalin degrading enzymes as key pathways. This dual action is proposed to prolong the activity of endogenous opioid peptides while directly enhancing inhibitory neurotransmission.

Beyond the GABAergic axis, Selank has been studied for its effects on monoamine systems. Rodent models demonstrate changes in serotonin turnover in frontal cortex regions and alterations in dopaminergic activity in limbic structures both relevant to mood regulation and anxiety models. Separately, upregulation of BDNF (Brain Derived Neurotrophic Factor) has been observed in hippocampal tissue preparations, implicating Selank in neuroplasticity and resilience research.
